If you could choose to feel pain or not feel pain for the rest of your life, which would you choose and why? (This is your opinion, so be sure to clearly explain your reasoning).
I would choose to not feel pain for the rest of my life because I hate pain. I hate everything that deals with pain ( having a baby, etc...). So if I didn't have pain it would make my life a little bit better because when I have to deal with pain, I will not be able to feel it. I will not scream or cry because the pain is hurting. I will take the pain with a big smile on my face and be happy. I also would like to not feel pain because pain is kind of a part of your emotions ( like emotional distress and feeling miserable). Therefore if the pain is taken away then I will not be able to feel lonely or start going into depression.
I would choose to feel pain. I feel that in order to understand some things, you need to feel some type of pain. The pain that I'm referring to is emotional pain. I know that I learn from the pain I go through. If this question was more specific about which type of pain, I would have said that I didn't want to feel physical pain. I can barely deal with a minor headache! i don't do well with physical pain at all. I have a low threshold for pain. I would rather not feel it at all.
I would choose to feel pain because pain can be a lessoned learned. If you don't feel pain, then you would obviously not know what not to do (getting burned, jamming your fingers or toes, etc...). I'd rather feel pain because I would actually be able to help people that's going through physical pain. I'd be able to tell them that I've been through that, and tell them different ways to treat a certain pain.
If I could choose to feel pain or not feel pain for the rest of my life, I would choose not to feel pain. Pain effects emotions to the point where you just want to be left alone. I don't want to be the type of person that isolates himself from the world just because I'm in a bad mood. Pain can also make people think " Why should I even try doing something like that, I'm just going to be feeling pain." I'd also like to feel no pain so that I can be happy and live life to the fullest with no stress. Who wouldn't want to be happy?- Brian Rodriguez
If given the choice to live a life without pain, I would immediately reject it. Although it may sound kind of crazy, I believe pain is all part of developing, along with happiness, love, etc. Personally, I feel that pain has been a large part of my life, and I’ve found myself because of it. I learned from all of the painful experiences I’ve had, and it’s also made me appreciate all that even gives me a small piece of happiness. Sometimes I end up getting close to those who also have had similar painful experiences also because they tend to be very humble. Pain is exactly what makes me who I am today whether it is due to physical pain like the scar on my forehead or emotional that has been caused by others. I definitely wouldn’t be the way I am today if it weren’t for one of the most important things in the world. It’s exactly how you live and learn.
Initially, I would like to say I would want to live the rest of my life without pain; however, in all reality, I know this would be a poor decision. According to the text, "pain serves as an essential defense signal." In simpler terms, it acts an indication of potential harm and can help us to prevent it. Furthermore, we have various resources and techniques to cope with pain, which are effective and provide relief. Therefore, I would choose pain.
I Personally would prefer to feel pain for the rest of my life. I Think that pain is very important to our future. As stated in the text, pain is like a warning of danger. No, I dont like pain, but i feel it is necessary in life. From past experiences and things i have seen, a person seems to learn more when they feel pain. For example, when we jam our finger in the door, we learn that we must be more careful next time. In little kids, there are occasions when they get hurt and learn not to try that or do that again. A lot of pain can cause damage, but for the most part it is good to feel pain. I also think that life with out pain would not be the same. It is hard to explain, but it wont be the same. If there is no warning of danger, the probability of getting hurt is higher.
Even thought i don't like pain I would still choose pain the reason why is because it makes you feel alive. It better to feel pain because even though at moment it might hurt and sometimes a lot, at the end of the day you know you're human. Also it shows your expression to others for example if they hurt you they will know they did because your feeling the pain and they might apologize, but if you didn't feel pain then they wouldn't know that they hurt you and they wouldn't care because they wouldn't see the expression of the pain they have cause.
I would choose to feel pain, as wierd as that might sound. I think pain is an important part of life. Without pain you wouldn't know how it would feel to hurt. You would see other people in pain and you would wish that you felt their pain. I think that you have to have pain in order to have any other positive feeling. If you didnt have pain you wouldn't know what being happy or feeling good would be.
If I had the opportunity to feel or not feel pain for the rest of my life I would chose not to feel pain. My reasoning is because you said for the rest of my life, so including the pain I have already felt. I don’t enjoy pain because I feel like I don’t handle it well. I know it’s said no pain no game but with pain I'm slower in the game. I think going through pain takes time. It's hard to overcome something that hurts physically, and even more for me, mentally! Pain has made me who I am today and today I am a strong person but I feel confident enough to keep going without it. I feel that I would spent less time stressing about things and more time getting them done if I had no pain, mentally this is. Also exercise is just not my thing, so not feeling the horrible pain when I'm in physical education would be great! I'm a very emotionally person that wears my feelings on my shoulders and that doesn’t look so good from the outside looking in.
If I could choose to feel pain or not feel pain for the rest of my life I would choose to feel pain. I would choose pain, because it would be extremely weird not to feel pain for a cut or bruise. It would also be kind of dangerous because you would not be able to know when you are injured. Feeling the pain can prevent you from making the injury worse than it could be. By not feeling the pain you would not feel the physical discomfort caused by that specific illness or injury that has happened to your body. Feeling pain may sometimes hurt a lot, but it came with our body not only to make us feel in pain, but to warn us about a problem in our body. Therefore, I would choose to feel pain.
i would want to keep the pain that can happen in situations like having a baby, falling, etc. I decided this because when you get hurt and KNOW it hurt, you tend to learn from your mistakes and not do it. For example, if you touch a hot plate, and burn yourself, next time you will remember to use a towel to carry it. Pain is one of the ways we learn ,aka the hard way we learn things. I also would want to feel pain because when you survive through something, you are stronger and you can grow from that experience. Finally, if pain is a totally BAD thing to people, why do we feel it?? :)
I would choose to feel pain for the rest of my life, because they're people who have problems with their nerves and can't feel pain, so they have to do alot more than we do. They have to go to the doctor often to make sure nothing is wrong with them. For example: If you get a cut you would take care of it, but if you don't know you have a cut you can't really do anything about it. The same goes for a burn or a injury.
Pain also plays an important role in our lives. It can teach us life lessons, or it can help us be happy, because without pain how can you know what joy is? And isn't dark just the absence light?
This is a pretty interesting question and it did take a while to make up my mind. Ultimately, I think I would want to feel pain. Its a natural part of life, doing something dangerous and feeling pain for it so you know you shouldnt do it again. Pain sucks but, as the book states, if you touch flames for the first time but you cant feel the pain that would make any other person quickly pull back you are sure to get some pretty bad burns, maybe loose the ability to use your hand. Pain, the thing that makes you feel the hurt, can and probably has saved your life before. As for emotional pain, just look at it like this, you had to feel great joy for something if when its taken away you feel horrible. If i have some candy and someone takes it away, i kinda dont want be thrilled about it. Sometimes, its okay to be a little sad.
This is a very tough choice. There are cons and pros. To not feel pain is good because you can get stronger you are basically invincible and you can be superior to others. the cons are that no pain is very dangerous there are serious effects like a stomach ache when you eat to much but since you cant feel pain you keep eating , or not knowing enough is enough and tearing your mucles to shreds from over exersice. Ultimatly i have decided that i rather feel pain then nothing at all.
I would definitely want to be a canadate for NO PAIN.Pain is so horrible and very time consuming if you ask me . For example as females we have our monthly cycle, and that can makes us have cramps , bloat , and sometimes through up ! Sorry guys if i'm being a tad bit to blunt, but hey it's a part of life : ). Therefore , i'm going to have too pass on the pain !
I would choose to not have pain because i hate the feeling of something hurting you.For example getting a shot i remember honestly i would cry because of the pain up to 13 years of age.Now of course i don't cry because am use to the pain but still pain hurts, that is why it's called pain, and i don't like to feel it.I would honestly say i like been happy and not sad because i feel pain. It's a sensation would not like to have.
I choose to feel pain.I know everyone wishes that they don't have to feel pain when one of there family members die, or when you break up in a relationship, but pain isn't always hurtful. Pain can also teach you lesson as well. Pain always showed me never to quit, "pain is weakness leaving the body" by United States Marines. See Pain isn't always hurtful, it helps you become better to.
I would chose to feel pain actually because that is how we grow stronger and learn gradually as human beings throughout our life. For example, when a little kid learns to ride a bike at times we all fall at the first time or experience some sort of pain through the process. We might feel the physical pain of actually falling or the emotional pain of frustration to learn to ride. But through that pain, we gather ourselves and keep trying to ride that bike! :) ...because we gain self control and determination that in life there are things that things don't come as easy or just rough but we can learn to manage with it and how to deal with. So pain is part of the learning experience of obstacles in life.
If I could choose to feel pain or not to feel pain for the rest of my life, I would choose to feel pain. Sure, choosing not to feel pain is the easier way out, but I am stubborn and choose to do everything the harder way.. Pain is the champion of all emotions, the Floyd Mayweather of all boxers always ready to take you down. When people think of pain all they think of is the negative that comes with it, but there is a positive. Pain makes you grateful. Pain can make you rethink who you think you really are. Pain opens up your eyes to reality. Without pain I don't know who I would be today. I'd like to think that through the pain I have become a stronger person , and I like that person I have become.
